Why Trust 1 STD kit is for you?

You might wonder — why test for HPV? Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the world, with certain strains linked to cervical, anal, and other types of cancer. Most people don’t even know they have it. Here’s why this matters:

It’s often symptomless

Many individuals with high-risk HPV never experience symptoms, which makes it easy for the virus to spread unknowingly. Unlike infections that show clear signs, HPV can silently develop and cause
complications over time without any obvious warning.

It’s linked to cancer risk

High-risk strains of HPV — like types 16, 18, 31, and
others — can lead to cervical cancer, anal cancer, and even throat cancer. Detecting these strains early allows you to take action and follow up with your healthcare provider before serious complications occur.

There’s no cure, but there is prevention

While there’s no cure for HPV, knowing your status is a powerful step. Regular screening can help monitor your risk and guide clinical decisions. The HPV vaccine can also protect against certain strains if given early enough.

It’s spread through skin-to-skin contact

HPV spreads through vaginal, anal, and oral sex — even without penetration. Condoms lower the risk but don’t fully prevent it. That’s why regular testing is essential, especially if you’re sexually active with new or multiple partners.

HPV screening is a preventive health tool

This at-home kit screens for 15 high-risk strains of HPV — the types most commonly linked to cancer. Early detection gives you the knowledge to protect your health, seek follow-up care when needed, and gain peace of mind.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about the Trust 1 Home Collection Test

How accurate is the Trust 1 at-home STD test?

Our test is highly accurate, using the same CLIA-certified labs that doctors and clinics trust. To ensure the most reliable results, follow the sample collection instructions carefully.

How long does it take to get my STD test results?

We guarantee results within 48 hours after your sample reaches our lab. You’ll receive an email notification once your results are ready.

What should I do if my test is positive?

Don’t panic — most STDs are treatable. If you test positive, seek medical advice as soon as possible. While we offer telehealth services for California residents, those outside California should consult a doctor or clinic for treatment options.

What if I have STD symptoms but my test is negative?

Some STDs take time to show up on a test. If you have symptoms but your test is negative, consider:

  • Retesting in a few weeks if you’re within the incubation period.
  • Testing for other STDs, as some infections (like herpes, HPV or syphilis) may not be included in this kit.
  • Seeing a doctor for further evaluation.
Is my STD information kept private?

Absolutely. Your results are stored in a secure, HIPAA-compliant portal and only accessible by you. Your kit arrives in discreet packaging, and we do not share your information with anyone.

What are the symptoms of the STDs tested in this kit?

Many people experience no symptoms at all, which is why testing is crucial. However, when symptoms do appear, they can include:

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) – Most high-risk HPV strains cause no symptoms, making it difficult to detect without screening. In some cases, low-risk strains may cause genital warts, which appear as small bumps or growths on the genitals, anus, or mouth. High-risk types can silently lead to cervical, anal, or throat cancer over time if left untreated.

Regular testing is essential because many STDs remain asymptomatic for months or even years, silently affecting your health.

How often should I get tested for STDs?

When it comes to high-risk HPV, regular screening is key — especially because these 15 strains can increase the risk of cervical and other cancers, often without any symptoms.

  • If you have a cervix and are 25 or older, current guidelines recommend HPV screening every 3 to 5 years, depending on your health history and prior test results.
  • However, if you're sexually active with new or multiple partners, or have a weakened immune system, more frequent testing may be recommended.

This kit makes it easy to stay on top of your health from home. Even if you feel fine, HPV can be present without symptoms — so testing regularly ensures you’re not in the dark.

Can I use the Trust 1 at-home test if I'm pregnant?

Yes! It’s safe to use during pregnancy. In fact, routine STD screening is recommended for pregnant individuals to protect both you and your baby from complications.

Are the STDs in this kit transmittable through oral sex?

Yes, HPV strains tested in the Trust 1 Kit can be transmitted through oral sex. While many assume STDs only spread through vaginal or anal sex, HPV can also spread through oral-genital contact, leading to infections in the mouth and throat (known as oropharyngeal HPV infections).

Here’s how it works:

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) – High-risk strains like HPV 16 and 18 (included in this kit) can be transmitted through oral sex. These strains have been linked to oropharyngeal cancers, especially in the back of the throat, tonsils, and base of the tongue. Even without visible symptoms, the virus can still be passed between partners.

Since HPV is often silent and can be present for years without signs, regular screening is key. Using protection like condoms or dental dams during oral sex may lower the risk but doesn’t fully eliminate it, as HPV can spread through skin-to-skin contact.
