Why Prime 4 STD kit is for you?

You might wonder — why just Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV 1 & 2, and Trichomoniasis? These four infections are some of the most common and easily spread STDs in the U.S., and they often go unnoticed
without regular testing. Here’s why they matter:

They’re often silent

Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Trichomoniasis frequently have no symptoms, which means you could carry and transmit them without knowing. When symptoms do appear, they may include burning during urination, unusual discharge, or irritation — but they can easily be mistaken for a UTI or yeast infection.

They can affect fertility

If left untreated, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can cause Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) in women, leading to infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain. In men, they can lead to epididymitis, which impacts sperm health and fertility.

They’re easily transmissible

All four infections — including Trichomoniasis — spread through vaginal, anal, and oral sex. Yes, even oral sex can transmit Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and HIV, leading to throat infections that often go undiagnosed.

HIV detection is critical

Early detection of HIV 1 & 2 is essential. Left
untreated, HIV can severely weaken the immune system and increase the risk of life-threatening infections. Many people don’t realize they have HIV until years later, so routine screening is key to managing it early and living a healthy life.

Bottom line?

These infections can be present for months or even years without symptoms. Getting tested regularly helps you take control of your health, treat infections early, and protect your partners — all from the
privacy of home.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about the Prime 4 Home Collection Test

How accurate is the Prime 4 at-home STD test?

Our test is highly accurate, using the same CLIA-certified labs that doctors and clinics trust. To ensure the most reliable results, follow the sample collection instructions carefully.

How long does it take to get my STD test results?

We guarantee results within 48 hours after your sample reaches our lab. You’ll receive an email notification once your results are ready.

What should I do if my test is positive?

Don’t panic — most STDs are treatable. If you test positive, seek medical advice as soon as possible. While we offer telehealth services for California residents, those outside California should consult a doctor or clinic for treatment options.

What if I have STD symptoms but my test is negative?

Some STDs take time to show up on a test. If you have symptoms but your test is negative, consider:

  • Retesting in a few weeks if you’re within the incubation period.
  • Testing for other STDs, as some infections (like herpes, HPV or syphilis) may not be included in this kit.
  • Seeing a doctor for further evaluation.
Is my STD information kept private?

Absolutely. Your results are stored in a secure, HIPAA-compliant portal and only accessible by you. Your kit arrives in discreet packaging, and we do not share your information with anyone.

What are the symptoms of the STDs tested in this kit?

Many people experience no symptoms at all, which is why testing is crucial. However, when symptoms do appear, they can include:

  • Chlamydia – Often silent, but can cause burning during urination, unusual discharge, pelvic pain, or pain during sex.
  • Gonorrhea – May present with similar symptoms to chlamydia: burning urination, discharge, or testicular pain in men and pelvic pain in women.
  • HIV (1 & 2) – Early symptoms may resemble the flu: fever, sore throat, fatigue, or swollen lymph nodes. Many people feel fine for years while the virus silently weakens the immune system.
  • Trichomoniasis – Can cause itching, irritation, unusual discharge, or a foul odor, but most people show no signs at all.

Regular testing is essential because these STDs can go unnoticed for months or even years, silently affecting your health and increasing the risk of complications.

How often should I get tested for STDs?

If you’re sexually active, especially with new or multiple partners, regular testing is key — even if you feel totally fine.

For the STDs in the Prime 4 Kit:

  • Chlamydia & Gonorrhea – The CDC recommends testing at least once a year for sexually active women under 25, and for older individuals with new or multiple partners. Men who have sex with men (MSM) may benefit from more frequent testing (every 3–6 months).
  • HIV 1 & 2 – Everyone between ages 13 and 64 should be tested at least once, and more often if you have risk factors (new partners, unprotected sex, or if your partner's status is unknown).
  • Trichomoniasis – Women, especially with multiple partners or a history of STDs, should consider annual testing. Routine testing for men isn’t typically recommended unless symptoms are present, but regular screening helps catch silent infections.

Even if you don’t have symptoms, these infections can still be present — and the earlier you catch them, the easier they are to treat. Regular testing = peace of mind.

Can I use the Prime 4 at-home test if I'm pregnant?

Yes! It’s safe to use during pregnancy. In fact, routine STD screening is recommended for pregnant individuals to protect both you and your baby from complications.

Are the STDs in this kit transmittable through oral sex?

Yes, STDs tested in the Prime 4 Kit can be transmitted through oral sex. While many assume STDs only spread through vaginal or anal sex, oral sex can also lead to infections in the throat (pharyngeal infections) or be a route of transmission to the genitals. Here’s how each infection can be spread through oral sex:

  • Chlamydia – Can infect the throat through oral-genital contact, often without symptoms.
  • Gonorrhea – Easily transmitted through oral sex, leading to throat infections that may feel like a sore throat or go completely unnoticed.
  • HIV 1 & 2 – Though less common, HIV can be transmitted through oral sex, especially if there are cuts, sores, or bleeding gums involved.
  • Trichomoniasis – While it's less commonly spread through oral sex, it’s still possible, especially with oral-genital contact.

Since many oral STDs don’t cause noticeable symptoms, regular testing is the best way to catch and treat them early. Using protection like condoms or dental dams during oral sex can help reduce the risk.
